  • AEFAC Installer Certification Program - Brisbane

    The AEFAC Installer Certification Program is initiated to train and equip installers with necessary knowledge and skills to perform anchor installation at the highest level.
    A certified installer must be capable of assessing ambient conditions, concrete condition, materials, equipment, and tools for installing mechanical and chemical anchors.

  • Fastening Technique in Concrete: Past – Present – Future
    Tuesday 13th March, 2018 at 5:30 pm for 6:00 pm
    Epping Club 45-47 Rawson Street, Epping

    Come listen to the "Godfather of Anchor Theory" presents the development of anchor technology and the latest design approach that is a MUST KNOW for all engineers who work with anchors.
    In the talk, the development of fastening elements in Germany since about 1900 will be briefly described and the development of guidelines for testing of anchors and of models for the design of fastenings since 1980 will be reviewed. In particular, the CC-Method, which is incorporated in SA TS 101: 2015, will be explained in detail. Because correct anchor installation is very important, problems with installation of anchors on site will be discussed.
    A major focus of the talk will be on new research:
    • Harmonization of design provisions for connections in reinforced concrete and fastening technique
    • Fastenings with supplementary reinforcement under tension and shear loads

  • Technical Seminar: AS/NZS 1252 High Strength Steel Bolts with Associated Nuts
    Date: 8 May 2017 (Melbourne), 9 May (Sydney), 22 May (Adelaide), 23 May (Perth), 30 May (Brisbane)
    This seminar covers important design and procurement updates you must know. Significant improvements to the Standard include:

    • Strengthening of normative requirements around testing and product conformity

    • A new section on performance requirements of the bolt assembly and normative requirement for 'assembly testing'

    • A new EN 14399-3 Type HR property class 8.8 'alternative assembly type'

    • A new EN 14399-3 Type HR property class 10.9 'additional assembly type'

    • New definition of performance requirements for bolts suitable for torque-controlled tensioning

    • The new Part 2: Verification testing, which finally provides procurers with a unified transparent testing regime to ensure product compliance.

  • AEFAC - ASI National Seminar Series by Prof. Rolf Eligehausen author of Anchorage in Concrete Construction
    Dates: 7 March 2017 (Brisbane), 8 March (Sydney), 9 March (Melbourne), 14 March (Perth)

    This joint Australian Steel Institute (ASI)/AEFAC seminar will cover:

    • The key areas in anchor design covering both post-installed and cast-in anchors.

    • Factors and design principles including various failure modes in tension and shear, as well as the design of supplementary reinforcement.

    • How the underlying design methodology embedded in Standards Australia Technical Specification 101 "Design of post-installed and cast-in fasteners for use in concrete" (SATS 101) may be used in the building industry to design safety-critical fastenings to concrete that comply with the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC).

    Part 1 - TS101: Design of post-installed and cast-in fastenings for use in concrete (Launceston):
    This seminar will demonstrate how TS 101 may be used in the building industry to design safety-critical fastenings to concrete that comply with the requirements of the National Construction Code (NCC).
    Part 2 - National Installer Certification program for mechanical and chemical anchors (Hobart):
    The AEFAC Installer Certification Program is part of a safety framework for product pre-qualification, design and installation of fastenings to concrete for safety-critical applications in Australia.

  • AEFAC - Engineers Australia seminar in Melbourne: Australian Design of Fastenings to Concrete
    Date: 11 October 2016
    Engineers Australia, 600 Bourke Street, Melbourne

    Since its publication in 2005, SA TS 101 has been referenced in Volumes 1 and 2 of the 2016 National Construction Code (NCC), introducing consistency and certainty for the building and construction industry.

    This seminar demonstrates how TS 101 may be used in the building industry to design safety-critical fastenings to concrete that comply with the requirements of the NCC.

  • Prof Rolf Eligehausen from the University of Stuttgart presenting at IStructE seminar
    Date: 7 March 2016
    Venue: The University of Melbourne, Parkville
    The first part of this seminar provides an overview of the background to the new Australian design guidelines for post-installed and cast-in anchors published as Standards Australia Technical Specification 101 - 2015.

    The second part of the seminar presents findings from an extensive testing program that explores the performance beyond currently available design guidelines and reveals the true capacity for applications involving anchors close to an edge loaded in shear. A new and innovative analytical design model calibrated on the experimental program that evaluates failure modes and predicts the failure load of anchorages will be presented.

  • The 4th AEFAC Anchor Installer Certification Program was held at University of South Australia
    Date: 25 February 2016
    Venue: University of South Australia, Mawson Lakes Campus
    The AEFAC Anchor Installer Certification Program is designed to verify that certified installers possess the necessary skills to properly install chemical and mechanical anchors as per manufacturer's installation instructions.

  • Concrete Institute of Australia networking event: What's new in concrete

    The Australian Engineered Fasteners and Anchors Council (AEFAC) has developed guidelines for the specification, performance, field testing, and certification of anchors in concrete as well as an Installers Certification Program. These guidelines will become mandatory and provide a consistent approach to anchor design and installation Australia wide. This presentation provides an overview of these achievements.
